Kodie Bedford

Kodie was born in Western Australia, with strong family ties to the East Kimberley. She graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Communications and gained her Masters in Creative Writing from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Kodie wrote for the critically acclaimed ABC drama series Mystery Road starring Aaron Pederson and Judy Davis and an episode of the Logie Award-nominated NITV/ABC ME children’s series Grace Beside Me.

Kodie is currently working on a feature film which has received funding from Screen Australia, and several television series. She made her directorial debut with a short horror film, Scout, which she wrote as part of Screen Australia’s Shock Horror program.

Kodie received the Balnaves Fellowship for 2019 to develop her own play with Belvoir Theatre, Cursed! which was staged for the Belvoir Theatre 2020 season. Most recently, Kodie co-wrote, script produced and co-executive produced All My Friends Are Racist
for ABC iView which will premiere in August 2021.

Currently Kodie is writing for and script producing Warwick Thornton’s Firebite for See Saw Films and AMC studios.

Kodie’s other credits include Squinters (ABC), Robbie Hood (SBS) and script producing for KGB (ABC).
